Scope and Contents

This collection contains seven issues of the Los Angeles Tribune; a newspaper published in Los Angeles by civil rights activist, Almena Lomax. The newspaper ran from 1941-1960 and was published for African American residents of Los Angeles.

Scope and Contents The New York Amsterdam News and Other Press Photographs collection (1931-1974; undated) contains 66 black-and-white photographs mostly taken in New York for "New York Amsterdam News" and other press; and focuses on daily life of Black and African American communities. Abstract

This collection contains over 400 newspaper issues from 1967 to 1980, organized by the Black Panther Party(BPP). The newspaper covers a variety of topics, from community to global events. It was also used to distribute information of the BPP’s ideologies and their support for different groups fighting oppression.

Series consists of approximately thirty different leftist newspaper and publication titles. Most newspapers are represented by a single issue, but a few have multiple issues. This series is arranged alphabetically. See individual records for more information about each publication.
