Blues Periodicals Collection

Abstract

The Blues Periodicals collection (1994-2014) comprises of five music magazines or periodicals primarily about blues as well as jazz. Also included are three additional music magazines concerning professional recording and sound production technology. The bulk of the collection consists of the Living Blues and Blues Revue magazines.

Abstract

This collection consist of leaflets and broadsides pertaining to religious, social, and political themes from Mexico’s post-independence period. The content of the collection is made up of prints from Mexico’s iconic 19th-century printer and publisher, Luis Abadiano y Valdés. The collection presents a view of Mexican elite culture of post-independence Mexico that emphasizes the importance of religion, culture, and politics.

Guardian Newspaper Collection

Scope and Contents The Guardian was established in 1948 by James Aronson, Cedric Belfrage, and John T. McManus, members of the Progressive Party, and originally called the publication the National Guardian. Abstract

This collection contains issues of Akwesasne Notes (Vol. 2, no. 4- Vol. 19, No. 6. Contact repository for exact issues), a publication of the Traditional Mohawk Nation. Started by Ernest M. Kaientaronkwen Benedict- an educator, activist, and chief of the Mohawk Council in 1968; "Akwesasne Notes" became one of the largest newspapers dedicated to topics regarding Native Peoples and Native culture. Topics include: Native affairs in the Western Hemisphere; land rights; and social justice.
