Materials include letters and postcards from Fumio Fred Takano's family members as well as copies of his letters to his non-Japanese American friend. Most of the letters were written during the war and the contents of his letters include discussions regarding his efforts to seek assistance from his Caucasian friend; management of his property in Los Angeles, California during the war; and discussions regarding shipping the family's belongings from Los Angeles to the Gila River incarceration camp in Arizona. There are also letters written in Japanese by the Meguros, who are his parents-in-law. These letters detail their experiences in the Pomona Assembly Center in California and the Heart Mountain incarceration camp in Wyoming; describing the trip and life during their incarceration and their return from the camp to California.
