Biographical / Historical

The "Fourth International" is the name of the theoretical journal of the U.S. Socialist Workers Party after The New International was taken over by Max Shachtman. Shachtman had split from the SWP in 1940 over differences with the majority of the SWP and Leon Trotsky on the question of the class nature of the Russian state.In mid 1956, "Fourth International" became "International Socialist Review."
