Scope and Contents
The series contains Joint Council agreements, newsletters, bulletins, news articles, and reports from Joint Council Local Executive Board of New Jersey, affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Chauffeurs, Warehousemen and Helpers of America; The Earl Scheib Negotiating Committee; the California Teamsters Public Affairs Council; California Teamsters Legislative Council; the Central States Southeast and Southwest Areas Pension Fund; the Pennsylvania Conference of Teamsters; Joint Council of Teamsters Nos. 7, 10, 16, 28, 37-38, 41-43, 53, and 92.
Agreements, leaflets, letters, pamphlets, memoranda, and one directory concerning the Western Conference of Teamsters are present, as are subject files comprising bylaws, election ephemera and leaflets, newsletters, member letters and grievances, Independent Review Board (IRB) reports and exhibits, memoranda, and news articles related to various Teamsters Local Unions across the United States.
Of note are agreements, arbitration proceedings, contract proposals and final contracts, newsletters, bulletins, meeting minutes, leaflets, letters, grievances, and various other documents concerning Bottler’s Local Union No. 896, with a particular emphasis on documentation reflecting the activities and statuses of Union employees at the Anheuser-Busch, Inc. brewery in Fairfield, California.
The series also comprises subject files regarding a “Bay Area beverage strike” or “Bottler’s strike” and a National Freight Industry strike related to the National Master Freight Agreement from 1994-1995, in addition to strikes, boycotts, and protests of Diamond Walnut Growers, Inc. and the National Master United Parcel Service Agreement, among others. These subject files contain news articles, newsletters, black-and-white and color photographs and negatives, reports, news articles, leaflets, memoranda, press releases, proposals, petitions, bulletins, newsletters, artifacts, agreements, correspondence, letters, and other documents.
The series also includes petitions, reports, news articles and black-and-white and color photographs regarding a Specialized Distribution Management, Inc. and Safeway strike as well as exhibits, case statements, letters and correspondence, National Labor Relations Board and arbitrator agreements, case briefs, decisions, notices, charges, and other documents related to Specialized Distribution Management, Inc. v. Bob Mattingly.
