The Commission on Wartime Relocation and Internment of Civilians (CWRIC) was created in 1980 by the U.S. Congress to review the effects and circumstances for the incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II. The committee of nine heard testimonies from over 750 witnesses and examined the facts and circumstances surrounding Executive Order 9066, which lead to an official apology and reparations for thousands of Japanese Americans.
