Ken Carpenter Collection
This collection contains athletic event programs, correspondence, magazines, photographs, certificates, postcards, and other material mostly related to Ken Carpenter's college athletic career in discus including his time on the United States track-and-field team during the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Germany where he won a gold medal.
Compton High School Time Capsule
The Compton High School Time Capsule Collection includes information on the cornerstone, correspondence, city maps, pamphlets, school and club yearbooks, history on the city of Compton, school and city newspapers, information on the 1933 earthquake, and club and organization’s list of officers and members.
Filer Compton Collection
This collection consists of approximately 25 magazines and newspaper titles, as well as newspaper clippings and ballots. The collection predominantly focuses on African American social and political news, civil rights issues, and cultural and entertainment news. A large portion of the collection consists of Jet magazines but almost equally as large is the collection of Ebony magazines. Some of the titles also included are The Crisis, Los Angeles Times, The Bulletin and more.
