Biographical / Historical

During the Vietnam War, a majority of women serving in the war were nurses. Many of them had very little experience, and were recruited out of nursing school. Nurses worked twelve hour shifts, six days a week, and cared for the wounded, and those sick with tropical diseases. It is reported that anywhere from 7,000-11, 000 women served as nurses starting as early as 1956 when they were recruited to train Vietnamese women in nursing skills.
