The Violet E. Bromark Collection (1926-1958; undated) contains .63 linear feet of material that includes correspondence, directories, and other materials related to the professional teaching career of Violet Elizabeth Bromark. A majority of the materials in this collection are directories containing the names, addresses, and phone numbers of Compton city school staff and members of the Compton Business and Professional Women’s Club during the early to mid 1900s.

Biographical / Historical

Violet Elizabeth Bromark (1896-1987) worked as an educator throughout a number of schools within the Compton city school district. Bromark, originally from Kingsburg, CA, taught primary school education within the city of Compton for an estimated 30 years. Alongside her career as a teacher, Bromark was also a dedicated member of the Compton Business and Professional Women’s Club.
