Hideyuki and Betty (Tanji) Takamori Family Papers
Scope and Contents
The Hideyuki and Betty (Tanji) Takamori Collection contains 5.89 gb of digitized photographs, correspondence, and official documents related to the Takamori family. Images in the collection include family photographs from the United States and Japan, travel photographs from Las Vegas, Santa Monica, Disneyland, San Francisco, Hawaii, graduation photographs of young women from the Fashion Center in Hawaii, and other photographs related to the lives of the Takamori family. The letters in the collection are from Hideyuki Takamori to Betty before they were married, and letters of recommendation from Hideyuki's former workplaces. There are also travel documents for Betty Takamori traveling from Japan to Hawaii.

Biographical / Historical
Betty Takamori (nee Tanji) was born in Wakiawa Oahu, Hawaii in May 1928. Her mother was Tomi Ogata, and her father was Seinosuke Tanji. She had three siblings, Charlotte, Katsuko, and Sadaichi.
Hideyuki Takamori was born in May 1923. His mother was Hide Takamori, and his father was Sadaki Takamori. He had three siblings: Roger Takamori, Lily Takamori, and Hisako Tamiya. Takamori served in the Army Intelligence Division during World War II. He was sent to Fort Snelling for education.
Hideyuki Takamori and Betty Tanji were married in July 1957. They had two children, Gilbert and Alvin Takamori.

Alvin Takamori donated the digital reproductions for this collection during a Scanning Day event in 2018. He made an additional donation in 2019 of a photo album.

This collection contains digital reproductions created from loaned material. The donor retained the original items.

Processing Information for Digitized Materials
The Gerth Archives and Special Collections created digital reproductions from the original material for long-term preservation and access.
