Bibliography

The Nisei Week Japanese Festival began in 1934 "as a way to bring fresh ideas and new business to Little Tokyo." The festival is still a primarily volunteer-based operation consisting of cultural exhibitions, baby shows, Nisei Week Queen and court, and Nisei Week Grand Parade. Before World War II incarceration, the last festival was 1941, and was not restarted until 1949. The festival continues to occur in August to this day.
