Scope and Contents

From the Series:

This series contains material associated with conscientious objectors who were part of the Civilian Public Service (CPS) as well as in non-combatant roles during World War Two; and part of 1-W Service during the Korean War era. Included are issues of "Amnesty Bulletin" published by the Committee for Amnesty for all Objectors to War and Conscription, issues of "The Conscientious Objector" and other publications. Also included are letters addressed to William F. Garber detailing experiences at CPS camps; a complete roster of CPS Camp 21; a Central Board for Conscientious Objectors handbook,and other documents related to conscientious objectors and various objectors' related causes. Lastly, this series includes material related to the resistance of the Selective Service Act of 1967.
