Pamphlet entitled "To Secure Civil Rights in Alabama...." , undated

 Item — Box: 1

Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The Selma, Alabama Civil Rights Movement Collection (circa 1965) contains six flyers and one pamphlet regarding voter registration and rights for African Americans; and for civil rights events that took place in Selma, Alabama prior to the Selma-to-Montgomery marches in 1965. Material in this collection was produced and distributed mostly by Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), and Dallas County Voters League (DCVL). Two of the leaflets announce events that were to take place at the Brown Chapel, one of which Dr. [Martin Luther] King [Jr.] and Reverend Ralph Abernathy were to be in attendance. Other flyers and the pamphlet in this collection discuss boycotting the purchase of goods made or sold in Alabama until demands for voting rights were met.
