Scope and Contents
In the letters from McNew to his mother he inquires about her; discusses his weight, his back pain, taking his vitamins, his pay, and his running routine. He talks about how he was possibly going to Korea, but had to stay behind; possibly becoming a skill instructor; playing a football game; Nebraska [football] scores; inquires about friends and family; discusses photographs and a t-shirt he received from his mother; and talks about his experiences with his first P.T. test. He also talks about his concerns regarding passing a shooting test; and his experiences spending Thanksgiving and a Christmas day in the Marine Corps.
