East LA College Classnotes + Writings, 1961-1962
Scope and Contents
Sub-Series A: Planners, Notebooks, and Notes (1945-2016) contains planners, notebooks, and loose notes created by Art Kunkin, spanning from the late 1960s to the 2000s. The planners document Kunkin's day-to-day tasks and long-term projects. Up until 1983, these planners consist of handwritten notes in notebooks or on loose sheets of paper, while those from 1983 onward are typed and printed. The subseries also includes a variety of notebooks and steno pads with notes covering topics such as U.S. history, student organizing, the Free Press, hobbies, and Kunkin’s deep involvement in esoteric and alchemical subjects. Telephone message books and address books are also part of this material. Additionally, the sub-series contains loose paper notes on subjects like alchemy, astrology, psychology, philosophy, journalism, and New Age practices, as well as personal reflections and seminar materials. It also includes materials from Kunkin’s time studying at East Los Angeles College.
