telephone message books, January-March 1970
Scope and Contents
Subseries D: Business Correspondence (1964-1973, undated) contains general business letters to and from the Los Angeles Free Press and Kunkin's other businesses connected to the Los Angeles Free Press as well as the telephone books of the Free Press and related businesses. The bulk of the material in this series are incoming letters from other businesses, including Underground Press Syndicate members. The letters include business deals, exchange requests, opinion letters, and inquiries from contributors, journalists, activists, and politicians. Letters may also include news clippings, articles, flyers, brochures, and other like material attached.
Correspondence were in no original order and mixed in with other material upon acquisition. The archive staff arranged the bulk of the letters chronologically, but processing included the separation of letters from notable people; however, more assessment of the bulk letters is to be done in the future to identify other notable people. Folders with quotations were kept in original order and title. Letters from notable people were separated as well and subject-specific letters were separated. The telephone message books were arranged chronologically.
