This series contains reports, articles, emails, fact sheets, news releases, and other material related to HF and MHF, alkyation processes and alkyation technology including alternatives to HF, the Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Board, Public Employees of Environmental Responsibility (PEER), United Steelworkers, the Sierra Club, Valero Energy Corporation, and other organizations and documentation regarding refineries, refinery safety, disaster planning, climate change, unions, pollution, and the environment. Also included in this series are materials mostly related to the 2019 explosion at Philadelphia Energy Solutions (PES) oil refinery; and contact lists and business cards for elected officials, politicians, city employees, and organizations. Lastly, this series contains two folders of clippings and articles that were removed from a binder compiled by a member of TRAA. Subjects in this binder include: alkylation technology, ban of HF and MHF at South Bay refineries, TRAA campaigns, the PES refinery explosion, SCAQMD Resolution No. 19-19 vote, incidents and accidents at refineries, ExxonMobil Torrance Refinery explosion, Torrance refinery safety, pollution, and the PBF Energy purchase. Other documents related to the subjects in this binder can be found throughout the collection within Series I, II, and III.
