Scope and Contents
The Pacific Coast Council on Latin American Studies Collection (1984-2010; undated) contains five boxes and 1.88 linear ft. of material donated by Dr. Erika Verba, Dr. Irene Vasquez, and belonging to the Pacific Coast Council on Latin American Studies. The majority of the collection contains documents regarding the establishment of the organization, financial documents, conference proceedings, and correspondence regarding the organization and its conferences. Box one contains information on creating a webpage, an application to mail at nonprofit standard mail rates: form 3624, a Notice of New Employer Identification Number Assigned in Arizona circa 1988; the constitution and bylaws of the Pacific Coast Council on Latin American Studies; and Conference schedule for the Pacific Coast Council on Latin American Studies held at California State University, Los Angeles. It also contains a non-profit status application, a guide to forming non-profit organizations, a community development seminar series application sponsored by the Community Development & Child Care Law Projects, and a letter from the Public Counsel Law Center regarding an application for legal assistance. Box two contains membership lists from the Pacific Coast Council on Latin American Studies, a list of its Board of Governors from 1997-1999, floppy disks with information regarding the organization and graduations, El Correo Fronterizo Newsletter and other newsletters, member records, mailing lists, and agenda and minutes to executive meetings. Box three contains a 1985 brochure of the Pacific Coast Council on Latin American Studies, the bylaws and constitution amendments, Board of Governor nomination letters, College University lists with Latin American Studies programs, Proceedings of the Pacific Coast Council Volumes 16, 17, 23, and 37. It also contains information for the Joint Conference Rocky Mountain Council for Latin American Studies and Pacific Coast Council on Latin American Studies held in 1996, pamphlets from the 2001 conference at the Colegio de la Frontera, and other documents pertaining to the conferences held from 2002- 2006. Box four contains bank statements, deposits, treasurer reports, and financial reports. Box five contains a list of membership dues from 1999, a midyear report from 1992, an October 1993 agenda, and minutes. It also contains correspondence regarding the 1991 and 1992 proceedings, the 1995 conference proceedings, and a financial summary. Lastly, box five contains correspondence regarding the 1996 conference, stale checks, the 1999 conference and its panelists, the 1999 and 2000 proceedings, the 2003 conference, the 2004 conference, and future proceedings.
