Scope and Contents

Brigid O’Farrell published She Was One of Us: Eleanor Roosevelt and the American Worker in 2010. Her book tells the story of Mrs. Roosevelt’s commitment to workers and the development of the labor movement and the actions that the first lady took for the rights of the workers. The series includes the book itself, research material, copies of photographs of the first lady with tradeswomen- some of which did not make it into the book, promotional material, O'Farrell's Letter to the Editor in the New York Review of Books asking why her book was not mentioned in their Eleanor Roosevelt article. It also includes correspondence with musician, Pete Seeger, who wrote a blurb for the book’s jacket, She Was One of Us book reviews, and other documents.
