Scope and Contents
This series contains documents pertaining to the education and career of Margaret “Betty” Johns (née Weiskopf). Educational documents include yearbooks, transcripts, certificates, diplomas, and report cards from high school at Leuzinger High School in Lawndale, California through college at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Career documents pertain to Johns’ career as the first kindergarten teacher in Santa Fe Springs, California and include teaching brochures and guidelines, classroom exercises, correspondence, photographs, and contracts and employment documents. Also included are UCLA Alumni Association documents and a book on the history of Santa Fe Springs (“City of Santa Fe: Past and Present”), which features an article on Johns’ career.
