Scope and Contents
The Suzanne Roberts Scrapbook Collection (1981-1986) contains material related to Roberts- a member of the Long Beach Chapter of National Organization for Women (NOW) and former elementary school teacher. The scrapbook is a celebration of Roberts' life as a teacher and activist, and contains photographs mostly taken during demonstrations; marches; national and state conferences; as well as at walks for the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) in California, Oklahoma, and San Diego; and at Pasadena’s Doo Dah Parade. Also included in this collection are photographs of Roberts' friends; staff and students of the Roosevelt School in Paramount, California; and childhood photographs. This scrapbook also contains clippings, flyers, and photographs related to Roberts' NOW Susan B. Anthony Award ceremony; obituaries and condolence messages for Roberts after her passing in 1986; and ephemera related to NOW.
