Scope and Contents

The University Media Relations Collection documents the work of the CSUDH News Center and related campus communications, with materials dating primarily from 1964 to 2004. Materials include press releases, publications, correspondence/subject files, clippings, and advancement files. Notable publication runs include The Com Line (1974–1985), Inside Dominguez Hills (1985–1995), and University Relations Reports (1985–1988). The series listing reflects four components: Correspondence/Subject Files (1970–1985), Publications (1964–2002), Advancement Files (1991–1999), and Miscellaneous (1985–1999).

Subject files and releases document a wide range of campus activities and initiatives, such as commencement (scripts, publications, operations manual), Speakers Bureau, enrollment and budget topics, athletics and sports publicity, and programming across schools and departments. The collection also covers major projects and partnerships including the California Academy of Math and Science (CAMS), the Challenger Center, and campus/community events; clippings span 1962–2004 and include thematic groupings (e.g., alumni, faculty, California State University items, Home Depot Center).
