"The Responsibilities of California Teachers Training Institutions in Language Instruction," Foreign Language Conference, Sacramento, CA, March 24, 1962
Scope and content
The series includes materials related to the California Master Plan Survey Team of which Dumke was appointed, the Office of the Chancellor (Headquarters), and the Chancellor's Office, the CSU Board of Trustees, and the CSU system during his time as Chancellor, 1962-1982. Materials chronicle the process of organizing the California State University (CSU) system under Dumke. The Chancellor's Office materials also contain a folder of correspondence with Dr. Hayakawa and other officials, as well as several confidential reports, recommendations for strategies, and memos; regarding the San Francisco State College disturbances of 1969. The transcripts of the most major speeches Dr. Dumke gave as Chancellor are represented in the collection. Box 1 includes a chronological list of Dumke's major speeches from 1962-1982.
Note: The CSU system was formerly established as the "California State Colleges" (CSC) in 1961, and in 1971 renamed as the "California State University and Colleges" (CSUC). The name "California State University" (CSU) was officially designated in 1981.
